• Are you feeling overwhelmed in your business and life with everything you know you have to do?

Are you desperate to find a way to be more productive and get things done, especially now that it’s May and summer is almost upon us, the end of the conference, rally, seminar (or whatever you call it for annual company recognition) is almost here and you have not met your goals?

Do you feel like you have so much on your plate?  Or that you have a dozen or more plates all spinning getting ready to crash?

Overcoming the overwhelm is essential for sanity as well as success.  Wouldn’t you agree?

Most times when you are feeling overwhelmed you may just have the wrong things on your plate. It may not be that you have too many spinning or even too much on your plate.  You may be spending too much time on non-revenue-generating activities.  It could also mean that you are not reaching out for support in the ways you need to.

Here are the best tips for re-centering and managing your time.

Just kidding, this is not readily available now so let’s talk about things a little more practical.  Seriously, lighten up!  I hope you at least got a giggle out of that.  (I know, my humor is not great!!).

Laughter has been said to be the best medicine.  At least that’s what my favorite book says in Proverbs 17:22.

Laughter reduces pain, increases job performance, connects us emotionally to others and improves the flow of oxygen to the heart and brain.  Mayo Clinic and many cancer clinics have incorporated it into treatment centers as they know it help us feel more alive and empowered.

Watch the movie “Multiplicity” starring Michael Keaton.  It is such a funny movie about an overworked, overstressed and overwhelmed man that relinquished himself to the fact that he needed help and a mad scientist creates goofy clones of himself that makes things worse.  It’s so funny!!

Seriously, don’t take things so seriously.

    When you laugh it:

    • Lightens your load by relieving stress
    • Fosters a positive work environment
    • Draws people together vs. building and fueling the fire of the negativity and drama
    • Recharges you. It is hard to smile and think the negative thoughts you were subjecting your poor exhausted brain to.
    • Quiets the overwhelming inner-chatter in your ind and helps relax your muscles
    • Boosts creativity

It has been said that if you are too busy to laugh, you are too busy.  (Just sayin’.)

Let God reorder your life, or at least give you a different perspective… His perspective.

Your prayer could be as simple as mine is for you today…

Lord, I pray for those that are feeling overwhelmed today.  Life can be chaotic and messy, but you give us your strength to go through to the other side.  Thank you!  Thank you for your peace that goes beyond understanding.  In Jesus’ Name – Amen.

Allow Him to give you clarity and the strength to go on.

Reach out to the Lord and simply pray.

Dear Lord, hold my hand when fear threatens to overwhelm and disable me.  I rebuke fear and live in faith in Jesus’ Name.  When I feel inadequate, insignificant or discouraged, give me strength to keep going, the courage to stand up for what I believe in, and the desire to give You nothing but my best.  Lord, give me the GOD SIZE faith that conquers fear every time.  In Jesus’ Name…

I also love to find a scripture or two to stand on.  Some of my favorites for overwhelm are:

    • Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me.
    • When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, You knew my path. – Psalm 142:3
    • Pile your troubles on God’s shoulders & He will carry your load. – Psalm 55:22a
    • When you are in over your head, I will be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you won’t sink, when you are between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end, because I am God… YOUR God. – Isaiah 43:2

I also heard a prayer one time for anxiety and overwhelm.  It went something like this:

    Father God,

I seek You as I feel completely overwhelmed.

I don’t have the time or the energy to sustain myself or my life.

Everything tells me there is too much to do.

    Won’t You help me, Lord?

Show me Your hand, in control of all things.

Let me find rest in You.

Help me trust in you and that you give me eternal blessings always.

You alone own time itself, You alone are Lord.

So, I stop this moment, and look for you…

I feel the soft breeze of your merciful love, carrying my worries away.

    You transform me,

You change my heart… so I rise up strong again, in Christ, and face the world

My path straight and firm with faith in your Son, in whose Name I pray amen.

Control what you can control… your attitude and your behavior. We cannot control what happens to us, but we can control how we react.  When we feel like we have lost control or things are out of control, it is the time of greatest temptation to give in, give up, or to step up.  When you step up, control your attitude and behavior, it is empowering… giving you power in your business, your relationships, and life.

Give yourself permission to move forward and progress in progress, not perfection.  Success can be measured by what you do daily, not in a day.

Forgive yourself for the hot mess you feel you are right now.  It is temporary.  There is a solution.   Be intentional and realize that some days will be more productive than others and know that if you did your best today…. You did your best.  Rest in that.

Take a deep breath right now and lower the adrenaline that is pulsating through your body right now.

Get your time under control. Relief is in site.

With a few adjustments in the way you plan your schedule and silence your inner dialogue you can have more success.  Here is the key:

Work from systems, inspiration, and a great planner.

Tackle the hardest 2 things or the 2 things that will have the greatest positive impact on your business first each day.

Know what you are going to do each day of the week, know what dates you are going to do parties, have a date with your sweetie pie, and give yourself some love & self-care.

Plan, reflect and have some fun.

It’s all included in my “Master Your 2017 Faster” planner.  Take the guess work out of what you need to do to create the successful life and business you desire.  I know that utilizing this system was one of the big secrets for me that made me incredibly productive and more at peace while building my multi-million-dollar direct sales business, without having to have every moment scheduled.  That would have drove me batty.  This allowed me to have the space in my life and business to be truly fulfilled and be a rock star in my company and business.

Let me leave you with my other life & business hack that is essential before you tackle your overwhelm… it is to create space.

To create a little space in your life and business ask yourself:

    • What is one activity I can give up or let go of?
    • Where is one place I can say thank you for the offer, but I must decline (say no) at this time? (This is what I call an “enlightened no”, because I put a beautiful smile on my face, thank them for thinking of me, and honor myself and my destiny – not to mention my sanity- more than I need to say yes, because I realize this offer does not define me, and the people, situation or opportunity does not serve me at this time.  I choose peace and joy instead.)
    • Where is one place you can clear up clutter? (Set a timer for 5 minutes and clear the clutter.  It is so freeing and brings so much peace.  You may find it does so to the point you may want to set the timer for another 5 minutes or put on your favorite dance song and quickly groove around the house to de-clutter your hot spots of clutter for the day!)

In a nutshell, I would say with the:

    • Physical stuff – declutter, sort it out and organize, and put things where you use them.
    • Mental stuff – get it out & write it down, prioritize, and then make it happen.
    • Time stuff – decide what matters, say yes to the important stuff, and so no to the rest.

Remember to lighten up, laugh more, pray and appreciate more!

Income producing activities are the life blood for ANY business. However, many people believe they ARE focusing on income producing activities when really….they are just BUSY. Being busy does NOT always create more income. It is similar to running on a hamster wheel. Checking off all your daily tasks is great but, did you simply consume your time with “stuff” to do like clean the office, check your email, or surf Facebook? OR did you move your business forward towards building a fabulous income?

Have you ever wanted someone to “just tell me what to do” to be successful in business, or give you ideas to be creative to keep the business exciting?

Let’s be honest, we all get bored from time to time or feel like we have exhausted all the possibilities for prospecting, booking, sponsoring, fundraising, and creating creative meetings and events.

What about having a snapshot of what you were doing that created the success you enjoy so that you could accurately repeat it again?
